Long Now London February Meetup

This location is shown only to members

Come along for another evening of drinks and long term chat.

As before we'll have a 10 minute presentation to get the conversation going, this time from Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg.

Daisy is a designer exploring the social, cultural and ethical implications of emerging technologies. She is currently researching synthetic biology, genetic futures and the credit crunch in the second year of the Design Interactions MA at the Royal College of Art. Her background is in architecture and urbanism, having studied at Cambridge and Harvard universities.

Oh and as before please bring along whatever you'd like to drink and nibble on for the first bit. We'll transfer to the Bridge Lounge just along the road at about 8.30pm.

I'm so glad we have London meets now! I've been waiting so long! Sorry I can't attend this one though - I will still be at university and unable to get up to London for the day.

Very interesting group of people, and the format was great too. The 10 minute presentation gave everyone enough to discuss without dominating the event, providing plenty of time to meet people. The speaker was very good.

Great place, great cause, wonderful and inspiring people. I haven't given five stars because i think there is room for improvement. It still can get better! I spoke to a several other attendees and got clear feedback that they were lacking a little structure, the relationship to Long Now could be a little more clear, there could be a little more Long Now on the agenda. What could this look like? Has everyone read actually the book? No? I am sure you can order a second hand copy via bookfinder very cheap. What could another format look like? Discussions? Workshops? Something else? Watching a film? Listening to a podcast? Talks are very inspiring ... but really only part of what we are dealing with. Networking of course is great, but i'm also interested in learning something new. Understanding. Seeing new connections. What is the relationship to London? Where are there Long Now issues in London? Just some quick thoughts.

Thought provoking presentation by www.daisyginsberg.com on Bacteria. Long Now implications were probably too difficult to pin down, a lot of banter on terror germs which I find a bit missing the point.. anyhow, good fun!
