Site Building Volunteer Day

RIO and Louisiana Drupal Users Group to Create Innovation Community Website

Louisiana’s new Regional Innovation Organization (RIO) will team up with volunteers from the Louisiana Drupal Users Group (LaDUG) on Saturday, July 9, to build a new web site to help create a stronger, more vibrant entrepreneurial community in South Louisiana.
The event will be held at Pleasant Hall on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, with facilities and assistance being provided by LSU Continuing Education.
The planned web site aims to serve as the hub for entrepreneurs and groups in the region to announce events and collaborate on new ideas. The site will be built in a single day using the powerful and popular web content management system, Drupal.
With a core team of Drupal site builders already signed up for the event, LaDUG and RIO are looking for additional volunteers who would like to join them to help build the site. No previous Drupal or computer programming experience is required.
For more information on the event, please contact Jeff Diecks, LaDUG coordinator, at[masked] x213, or visit LaDUG's site at
About Regional Innovation Organization (RIO)
RIO was launched in February of 2011 to serve as a best-in-class entrepreneurial acceleration engine to significantly advance the innovation assets and capabilities within the Capital Region with the goal of cultivating a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. RIO’s launch was the culmination of a regional public/private effort by elected officials, the business sector, the region’s three Research Parks (incubators), State Universities, and the region’s economic development groups, lead by the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and other significant innovation entities such as the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. RIO's primary funding comes from the Research Park Corporation - the parent company of The Louisiana Technology Park.
About LaDUG
The Louisiana Drupal Users Group supports and promotes the use of Drupal in the state with meetings alternating between Baton Rouge and New Orleans on the first Thursday of each month. Drupal is a free software package that allows anyone to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Drupal is used by some of the biggest sites on the Web, like The Economist, and The White House. In Louisiana, Drupal powers sites for prominent state agencies, universities, real estate companies and restaurants.

    Notes on location and parking:
We will be in room 1190 (training room), which is down the end of the hall on the right as you come through the main entrance.

Parking: gates should be open for you to park in front of the building in the "horseshoe" lot on Saturday with no charge (visitor lot next door may still charge for parking)
