Love-A-Bull began as a Meetup Group in 2003, and though it has since grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, it still maintains its presence on Meetup.com to attract new members, distribute information, promote activities, and facilitate public interaction. Our main site is www.love-a-bull.org.
The mission of Love-A-Bull is to promote responsible ownership and improve the image of pit bulls through education and advocacy in the community. Love-A-Bull regularly hosts fun activities, but our main goal is to increase awareness of issues that affect pit bulls and their owners.
Specifically, Love-A-Bull is committed to:
* Educating the public about responsible pit bull guardianship (including leading by example);
* Promoting and reviving the positive image of the All-American dog that once was the pit bull;
* Dispelling the many urban myths that have developed regarding pit bulls;
* Promoting and supporting the spaying and neutering of all pit bulls;
* Fighting against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) targeting pit bulls; and
* Supporting the rescue and re-homing of pit bulls.
Our group is composed of members that live in Austin and the surrounding areas, as well as national members who wish to support our mission. We welcome the support of proud pit bull parents and others interested in supporting the above ideals and those who will work to further our goals.
