Janice, I am interested in your class, however I will probably miss one week maybe because I will have to go out to CA for a funeral.  Would there be material's and homework I could do to keep me informed?

Dear Fellow Writers,

Last week, I announced a new section of the STRUCTURE YOUR FICTION class.  This class lasts for 7 weeks, and the fee is $200 including all materials.

Originally, I proposed a start date of September 4 through October 16, with a meeting time of Wednesday evenings, 6 to 8 pm.   Responses have indicated that interested writers have very restricted times when they can attend.   For that reason, I am proposing two ideas:

1.  For those who can only attend a daytime session, I am proposing a Tuesday or Wednesday morning session, 10 am to noon.

2.  For those who can only attend an evening session, I propose that you let me know of your interest and the evening(s) when you can attend, and we will either have an evening in-person session or we will do the class online.

PLEASE BE SPECIFIC REGARDING YOUR AVAILABILITY.

Also, I will move the start date to allow us to work out the preferred class schedule.   Class will begin after September 4.

As a reminder, the class treats scene building, dialogue, how to critique your own and others' work, character construction, tension and pacing, how to build a chapter, and publication.   You'll learn how to put your stories together in a way that best supports the tales you want to tell.
A satisfying story has good bones, a structure that makes the story cohere, a structure that can be mapped.  As a writer, you can learn sound structural  techniques so that your own stories will deliver on their promise.  Your toolbox needs to be full and you must know how to use those tools.  Readers see clearly how well or poorly you've structured your story.

Although the class is focused on fiction writing, previous students who are writing memoirs or other non-fiction projects have found the class incredibly useful.

In-person class will be held in West Ashley.  Each section is approximately two hours long.  You will have weekly writing assignments.  The class location is on the third floor and there is no elevator; so sorry.

Please reply via email to [address removed] to indicate your interest and your preferred day of the week and time.   Let's get you started on creating unforgettable stories!
