We will probably go to the Mellow Mushroom (pause for joke) after the meeting. If there is overflow, we will be directing them to the Mellow Mushroom, next door to the library.
Join the pro-gun movement as we strategize our push-back against the forces set to further limit, or even abolish the second amendment. We are extending an invitation to all firearm professionals and talented laymen interested in fighting the onslaught of negative rhetoric and false information attached to guns. Join our efforts as we protest the restrictive legislation sitting in the shadows of an uncertain 2013 legislative session.
We will be organizing our resources and talents on this Friday night, January 11, 2013.Our agenda will include:
-A discussion on what dates are ideal to stage a pro-gun rally at the Capital—with details regarding permitting, expectations for protesters, and marketing strategies. A well communicated, organized rally can be very effective. Plan one successful protest, and your following events will have a similar level of success.
-Creation of an 'Educator Training Network.' There will be a point in time when teachers become fed up with being a human shield against madmen. That time might be now. Regardless of how many television anchors, sports casters, or Hollywood types treat guns as their scapegoat, school personnel are seeking training. Perhaps an 'Outreach' program is needed. Firearms professionals need to come to the rescue.
-No Fence Sitting—Create a pledge or other promise for legislators to sign upholding the second amendment. Recognize the friendly politicians. Utilize CORA requests (Colorado Open Records Act) to identify which anti-gun politicians have had background checks done at gun shows.
-Formation of a team to outline pro-gun legislation—we must have something to push back with. We will be looking for people to help write the language; those with experience lobbying are encouraged to contribute as well.
-Media contacts—outreach to the media to find advocates. An invitation to this meeting will go out to local media personalities. We will brainstorm ways to utilize these people to get a positive message promoted. They might not attend, but some of them will be very interested.
-Create an email list for this project. Create a network to share press releases, events, and other vital information. Explore other digital marketing opportunities like Facebook and Twitter.
Committees meet from 4:30-5:30p. Meeting starts at 5:30p. If you would like to suggest an addition to the agenda, please email me. If you would like to participate on a planning committee, please email me.
Times will be published for this agenda. Please stay tuned for detailed information about the schedule.
