We live in a bountiful and beautiful environment here on the coast of Maine. Nature?s abundance calls us as women to reconnect with all of our senses and to develop our skills as gardeners and healers. The medicinal herb gardens of Avena Botanicals invite you to renew your relationship with nature?s rhythms, mysteries and wisdom. Come celebrate and deepen your connection to the green plants and to your inner spiritual resources by attending one or more of the classes listed below.

Stepping into Spring Due to an overwhelming response?this class is full!
May 10 ? Saturday 8:45am-4:30pm ? $68 ? Includes vegetarian lunch and fresh herb tea
Learn to identify, harvest, make and use medicine from: burdock root, dandelion leaf and root, nettle leaf, yellow dock root, birch leaf, chickweed, violet leaf, and day lily shoots. This is a hands-on class. Come prepared for digging, nibbling, chopping, eating and delighting in the beauty of spring.

Permaculture, Biodynamics & Cosmology
June 14 ? 8:45am-4:30pm ? $60 ? Bring your own bag lunch, fresh herb tea provided
Principles of Permaculture and Biodynamic Agriculture, soil health, compost making, biodynamic compost preps and sprays, designing and hands-on planting of a kitchen herb garden spiral.

Flowers, Fragrances & Fairies
July 5 ? 8:45-4:30pm ? $75 ? Includes lab materials for take-home herbal preparations ? Bring your own bag lunch, fresh herb tea provided
This magical day includes identifying, gathering and preparing flower essences, teas, elixirs, facial steams, healing baths and cordials. The healing properties of roses, lavender, heartsease pansy, california poppy, nasturtium and elder will be shared along with tales of fairies, nature spirits and elemental beings.

Bringing Home the Dough: Making a Wood-fired Cob Oven
Aug.1-3 ? Fri. 4pm-Sun. 3pm ? $165 ? Includes 6 organic meals, instruction, camping and fun
Join us for this fabulous weekend of hands-on learning and building of a Goddess-shaped cob bread oven. Includes stomping and kneading clay for the oven, mud facials, foot baths, classes on herbal support for seasonal and spiritual transitions, and herbs for supporting good digestion. We will celebrate the summer harvest with a fire circle on Saturday

Flowing Into Fall and Winter
Sept 6 ? 8:45-4:30pm ? $68 ? Includes vegetarian lunch and fresh herbal tea
Preparing the garden, our lungs and our immune systems for fall and winter. Nourishing foods and herbs for keeping us healthy. Hands-on preparation and planting in a fall and winter cold-frame. We will make and bake bread together in the cob oven and eat a nourishing burdock root, astragalus, shiitake mushroom, miso, ginger, garlic, and kale soup prepared by Julia and Deb.
