we all use cannabis for various reasons: some of us are too ill to survive without access to use it along with our medical therapies; some of us prefer to use a plant over a chemical for less severe medical problems; many turn to marijuana for relaxation to take the edge off (as opposed to liquor or other drugs-legal or illegal). there are many people who use cannabis for these and many other reasons. regardless, the majority of cannabis users use it to cure ills that nothing else can, and do so responsibly. this is a group of cannabisseurs who encourage both the legalization of medical marijuana for patients in critical medical need as well as the decriminalization of cannabis for other therapeutic purposes. the war on drugs has been a huge and costly failure. the very foundation upon which cannabis and hemp were declared illegal officially rests on race-based prejudices that served to discriminate or target a few races in particular which is and continues to be unconstitutional reason to ban a plant crop and the medicine derived from its flowering. what is even more contemptuous in all reality is how this unconstitutional race-based ban is not what it seems. race was actually used as a cover for an even more devious basis to wage war on hemp crops and the marijuana possible to extract from its' delicate flower and ban both entirely. the war's real reason was purely for private industries' economic benefits. both, the oil and the automotive industries feared the competition from hemp, not marijuana, since hemp could replace oil and threatened to alter the course of the automotive industry as Henry Ford knew all too well from his organic garden insofar as what materials were used to manufacture the automobile all of which was right at the time the automotive and fuel industries' burgeoning. the race based arguments pertained to the marijuana ban, however, it was those arguments alone that won over the legislature. if marijuana went, so did hemp. the tax-stamp act pertaining to the prohibition of hemp and marijuana was an economic rouse we are still paying for and the fuel and automotive industries' no matter how fragile they may be right now for political and economic reasons respectively are still gaining from that economic rouse. it is time to do something to change it. it is time this country recognize the inherent abundance that comes from hemp crops and the very real benefits of marijuana that humans have known for years. nonetheless, the new physical benefits that are being discovered each day around the world. benefits that so far outweigh the losses that 13 other states of this republic have either by citizen vote, legislation, or governor's decree have disregarded federal law and passed compassionate use statutes that aid people with severe, chronic, painful, and or terminal illness live better quality of lives as this medicine does what no other medicine could for their battle against the stress and anxiety of this magnitude produce not too mention the most important - the symptoms of their illnesses and both massachusetts and colorado have decriminalized marijuana. if there is a time to act, it is now. our neighbor, New Jersey, has the issue on their up and coming ballot along with several states that branch out everywhere. it is time for connecticut and new york to follow in california's footsteps like all these other states are doing.

through intelligent dialogue, enjoyable activities, and advocacy work, this meet up is intended to demystify the propaganda against cannabis and hemp and to inform others in regards to the truth about cannabis use and hemp farming for that matter. this issue has the potential to boost the economy by regulating the cannabis industry and by allowing hemp to be a viable crop grown in the usa for all of its uses including but not limited to fuel, clothing, material goods, medicine, and transportation. in addition, hemp is a crop that can help the environment if it is planted globally. this issue is not only important for individuals alone; it is also an issue that can help heal the environment and stimulate the economy in very powerful ways. please join us in spreading awareness through advocacy work you will enjoy and hopefully benefit from in the not too distant future. let's get cannabis reform on the 2010 ballot for both ct and ny.
