In this meetup we will listen to an audio recording of the great meditation teacher Jack Kornfield talking about compassion, here is the link if you can't make the meetup or want a pre/post listen of the talk: Jack Kornfield on compassion

Jack has been teaching meditation for over 30 years, and always brings a sense of humor, wisdom and compassion to his talks. We'll start the evening off with a sharing of our own experiences of mindfulness, listen to Jack's talk, join together is a short meditation, and discuss insights and epiphanies about the talk. Please join us in mindful community as we seek to bring greater awareness and acceptance into our lives, and into the world.

I may not be able to make the meeting on Monday. I took the opportunity to listen to the audio and wanted to try and still contribute to the group. Once piece from listening that resonated with me was that fact that we never really know what others are holding. This very basic thought seems to be a key to developing compassion in any situation. If another mistreats you, remembering that they may be going through trying times helps develop compassion and understanding.

I have experienced a good practice for this at work where I encountered someone who seemed very cold and stubborn. At first, I was frustrated with her unwillingness to try something new. I later learned that someone close to her had a health crisis. Being able to relate to her experience, my frustration changed to compassion and I found myself more accepting of her need for some consistency when many things were out of her control. I enjoyed listening and hope I have the chance to discuss with others on Monday.

The e-mail notification says that the event is from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. This is the second time that I've noticed such a discrepancy. When is it really??
