WordPress Presents! How to Boost (or Even Replace) PowerPoint With WordPress

If you make slide presentations with PowerPoint, Keynote, Slideshare, or other presentation software, WordPress can do much more than just provide a download-the-ppt link for interested readers.

There are several methods for embedding and displaying slide presentations in WordPress posts or pages. Some methods allow you to easily embed a presentation. Others go further and enable you to use WordPress to deliver live, full screen slide presentations without using PowerPoint or Keynote. You can even write, edit, and create a slide presentation within WordPress using the Post editor.

Jim Luke will demo and provide instructions on how you can easily use WordPress for slide presentations. He'll also share tips for how to choose the right method. Many of these methods work for both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress installations.

By day, Jim Luke is a professor at Lansing Community College (http://jimluke.com/) who blogs as Econproph and has super-charged all his courses by using WordPress (http://econproph.net/). But at night his real passion is for Malartu Inc. (http://malartu.org/), a non-profit organization he founded to improve productivity and networking for faculty in higher education. Malartu courses and services are based on WordPress technology.

Before Jim began working in higher education 13 years ago, he was a business planner and strategist for over 25 years with NCR, Mead, and his own consulting firm, Planning Solutions.

Over the years Jim has helped many organizations in a wide variety of industries understand and take advantage of new and changing technology. In 1998 he was awarded one of the earliest patents in the e-commerce arena.

Parking and Venue information

Parking is available on the street on Cadillac Square and is only a couple bucks. There are also parking garages around the corner.

Enter the building from the Woodward entrance. You'll need to sign in with security to get to the third floor.

Please be sure to come up via the EAST elevators, mention this to security please. From the third floor, someone will meet you at the elevator to direct you to the room where we're meeting.

The room is just off that elevator bank, and there are other meetings going on so please be mindful.
