How to attend a Star Party

  • June 30, 2014 · 7:00 PM

What is a star party? No, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep will not be there. A star party is a group observing opportunity where several members of the club meet, bring telescopes and other equipment and observe and photograph the night sky. If the star party is public (all our events listed here are), it is an excellent opportunity to get to know the basics of observing, look through big telescopes, and meet other astronomers. In order to be welcome at a star party and to be comfortable for the whole viewing session, you should know some basics. We have developed a new guide for you to do this and we hope you will enjoy it. You can access it here http://files.meetup.com/2674222/MHAA%20Star%20Party%20Etiquette%20Guide.pdf in the files section of this Meetup Group. Please let us know what you think of it. We look forward to seeing you at our next star party.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
