It's nice to know that rackspace has good support. That could be pretty useful. It's their pricepoint that is not so attractive to me. I'm working on a lot of small projects now, and the rackspace pricing would really add up:

I've been fairly happy using AppFog, but I think they just got rid of their free plan, and I'm grandfathered in. I haven't used many of the other choices.

As far as a longer term solution and flexibility and scalability, I have found Rackspace to be a real pleasure. It does require sysops knowledge ,unless you pay for their managed cloud, so it's not a good quick start solution. However, basic setup is actually very easy and there are a lot of very thoroughly vetted and easy, step by step setup instructions, and any holes are fairly easily bridged with their livechat or phone support. I didn't know anything when I started using it and now I feel pretty comfortable undertaking whatever I need. They have amazing support, it's pretty affordable, and you can do just about anything you want.

Best of luck
