Great 2nd Anniversary meeting and potluck this weekend! As always, I was happy to be with you all :-)

  • Book of the Month Selections - At the meeting on Sunday, selections were made (via voting) from the list of over 25 recommended books submitted by club members. Books of the month were picked for the September - December meetings. There will be no online poll this fall.

o September - The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
o October ? A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
o November - The Help by Kathryn Stockett
o December - The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga

The meetups (along with discussion questions, and author interviews) have been uploaded, so feel free to go ahead and RSVP.

  • Fall 2009 Social Events ? As an informal rule we try to have social events which are vaguely related to our book of the month selections every other month. I am happy to announce that we have some social events tentatively planned for Fall 2009. Dates and times to be announced.
o To Bowl or Not to Bowl at Lucky Strike in South Beach
o Southern Soul at Mahogany Grill in Miami Gardens
o Sunday Brunch at Soyka in the Design District
o Dinner & A Movie at Cobb Cinebistro in Doral
o A Taste of India at Bengal in Midtown

Hopefully these and future events are located centrally enough, that you will be able to make it to at least one of them.

Last but not least, a BIG welcome to the many new members. We are so happy to have you, and I am always pleased to see so many new and old faces each month. I can't believe we now have over 400 members! I am excited that we have so much interest and look forward to getting to know and meet you all at our upcoming meetings and events.

As always if you have any suggestions for social events or ways to make the bookclub better please let me know and, if you have questions, always feel free to email me!
