MilCog at Nexus Game Fair
The Nexus Game Fair will take place June 19-22 at the the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Milwaukee. The event catalog is now available to preview events that will be run at the con. You can still submit events to run at the convention.
Event sign up will start out with a “draft” method, where vents will be allocated based on draft lists that each attendee will submit. Positions in the draft will be available closer to the date, but is based on a few factors such as how many events you are are running, and how early you register for a Nexus badge. After the draft, Nexus will change to to a live registration system.
The MilCog game library will be available during the Con, in addition to the board game events that will be available for registration. Go to www.nexusgamefair.com to get a badge, register events, and look at the event catalog. You can also follow the Nexus Game Fair on Facebook to get their latest announcements.
Jamey Phillip says, “I want to thank everyone who is involved with MilCog. I’ve been super busy working 70 hour work weeks and remodeling the house, prepping for Nexus, among other things and have not had time to game or do anything much in the group. But thanks to others there have been cool events to go to, a newsletter, and activity on our pages!”
Jamey would also like to thank MilCog member Kane Klenko for a library copy of his latest release, Mad City. It will be available for check out at Nexus, and he is running several demos there as well. Come play with a designer!

West Bend Gaming - Contribution by Matt Wimmer
The West Bend Board Game meetup celebrated International Tabletop Day last month by having two rooms with board games on April 5th. The meetup had a good turnout with games such as Three Stooges, Professor Pugnacious, Tsuro, Chicken Cha Cha Cha, Rampage, Tsuro, 7 Wonders, Settlers of Catan, Robinson Crusoe, Hanabi, Kings of Air and Steam, and Pitch Car!
Our last meetup was April 26th. We had a strong turnout at the library. Games such as Jamaica, Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures, Legendary Marvel Deck Builder, and Power Grid were played and enjoyed by all!
Thank you to all the Cogs that came out and made the April events a success! The next event is May 10th from 9am-4pm at the West Bend Public Library. See you there!
Spring Mini Gaming Hoopla
The 2014 Spring Mini Gaming Hoopla took place May 3 - 5 in Janesville, WI. The event benefits the American Cancer Society through the Knutson Family Relay for Life Team. The Mini Hoopla was packed with tables for open gaming, and had binders on-site to plan and organize games. It did not include the more organized features of the Fall Hoopla like the Best Raffle Ever and the silent auction, but they will return for the Fall Gaming Hoopla later this year.
