Minnesota Atheists Meetup Group

We will be making menstrual pads for young girls in places where there little is little or no access to pads and often girls miss school because of the lack of menstrual pads.

We have made a total of 165 pads sets. This is awesome. This means 165 young ladies are able to attend school every day. The Pads we finished last time will be going to Liberia.

We have 240 individual pads ready for fleece and shipping.

We will need both those with and without sewing experience.
If you have a sewing machine that you can bring please let me know in the comments.

Put 120 Demont E, Little Canada in your navigation. Come in the front door numbered 120. Dial 187 on the directory. I will let you in. Follow the signs to the party room.

Some of our brainiac members are interested in testing their recall of all things trivia - gasp! - with other people present at Venn Brewery in SE Minneapolis. Looks like they have lots of tasty sounding beers there. For food, there is a food truck scheduled but the taproom allows you to bring your own food if you'd like to do that instead.

Trivia starts at 6:00 PM. You may find people arrive around 5:30 to socialize and hopefully find a table. If you are new, look at some profiles of RSVP'ers on Meetup to help you find the group. (Mike won't be attending often so try a few other names)

!!! Parking is limited in this neighborhood. There are signs posted noting only two hour parking before 8:00PM so be careful. Arriving early may help in finding a spot but that may require you moving your car - don't get towed!. The picture (Venn diagram?) shows a cul-de-sac on E 45th St, just north of Venn, where there may be extra space but with the same 2 hr restrictions. It is a great time to check out the Blue Line with a light rail station just a parking lot away from the Venn.

This is a repeating event. You can just show up but an RSVP here would be appreciated just to help attendees connect. Have fun with whomever shows up. Winning is an added perk! Our historic Trivia group name is "No Dissonance, you have to back it up" - using it isn't a requirement but "Why not!".

Please follow CDC guidance. Currently, masks expected when not at your table, but things change too.

The group of people attending each week can/will change. There is no official host so have fun with whomever becomes your teammates that week.

We open the party room at 6:00 PM for socializing before the meeting. We encourage zoom participants to join the meeting between 6:15 and 6:25 to socialize and iron out any technical issues. Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. While in many other Toastmaster Clubs the culture deters any mention of religion, so atheists feel guarded and often stay "in the closet," this club provides not only training in public speaking, but also continuous education in topics of interest to atheists.

This club offers the opportunity to talk about a wide range of topics. We welcome people of all worldviews, but of course our members tend to be non-religious. We take current events seriously, but our politics range from capitalist to socialist, from liberal to conservative. Our ages run from the 20s to the 60s (and beyond).

If you decide to join, you can learn to be a better, more confident speaker. No matter what our worldviews, we are committed to mutual respect, tolerance, honesty, encouragement and constructive criticism. If you become a member, you will have the opportunity to prepare and deliver speeches regularly, and receive constructive evaluations of your speeches. It’s a great place to become comfortable as a speaker. With the help of other members, we learn to prepare and present effective speeches on a wide range of topics from humorous to serious. We also learn to think fast during our "Table Topics" sessions (impromptu speeches). We never know quite what to expect from our speakers, but we can always count on an interesting evening together.

As a club of Toastmasters International, we charge the standard rate with no additional club dues. To join Toastmasters, it costs $60 per six months (prorated depending on when you join) plus a $20 new member fee. The new member fee pays for the educational program and the general membership fee pays for district events (local educational sessions for the greater Toastmasters community), general overhead, and a Toastmasters magazine members can opt to receive in the mail.
