What we’re about

Hello, my name is Steven Billeter and welcome to the Minnesota SolidWorks User Group (MNSWUG).

I am working on re-starting the local Minnesota SolidWorks User Group to empower real people who use SOLIDWORKS products to collaborate with, learn from, and teach others.  We’re working to make attending even easier by offering a virtual path (gotomeeting) in addition to the regular in person approach.  We also want to make the meetings more interactive, so we’ll be taking questions from the audience and having an open discussion, it’s always fun to learn about multiple ways to solve problems and the trade offs between these methods.

Our goal is to meet four times a year and learn as much as possible. At the meeting there will be presenters from SolidWorks, Minnesota VARs, SolidWorks Users, and other CAD related businesses. We want to hear stories from everyday users about how they are being more creative using SolidWorks. There is no need to bring a computer, but you are certainly allowed. We will have regular meetings, but also other meetings which can focus on certifications, special events, annual software rollouts, etc. We will try to tour sponsoring businesses whenever possible.

You do not need to be a current SolidWorks customer to attend, and membership is free of charge. At the meeting there will of course be networking, giveaways, free food and the opportunity to learn valuable real-world tips tricks and techniques.

MNSWUG is a part of the SolidWorks User Group Network (SWUGN) which consists of more than 250 groups and tens of thousands of users across 25 countries.

If I sound excited, I am! I currently work as a CAD administrator with Daikin Applied Americas but have been using SOLIDWORKS since 2007 and spend lots of time solving CAD challenges that I’d like to share.  This will be a great new chapter for our group, and joining our group is easy. Please start by creating a MeetUp account and then joining our group (MNSWUG), it’s takes less than 2mins. We hope to see you at the next meeting!
