Wednesday, February 11th from 6pm until late at Wistia Inc (http://bit.ly/wistiaplace). in Cambridge, we will be hosting the "Scotch Streaming and Scaling" event, an evening event of knowledge and networking for anyone interested in streaming, scaling and mobile development. Participation is “free as in beer” and will consist of 5 keynote speakers interspersed with 5 sessions of live DJ’d music and hors d'oeuvres. The meeting is powered by McGraw Hill Education (http://www.mheducation.com/) in Boston!A shuttle service will operate from the Central T Station to the location since 5:30 PM.
Each of the 5 presentations will last 20 minutes, and the networking sessions will be 15 minutes each with live DJ’d music and some fantastic “scotch party” style food and drink. Scotch will be served neat or as a cocktail all the night, be prepared for an informal atmosphere and bring your passion for all things development!

WebRTC is a rapidly developing standard, open source platform, and developer movement bringing real time voice, video, and peer-to-peer data to the web and mobile apps with just a few API’s. Chad Hart, Chief Editor of webrtcHacks.com will provide a brief guide on how to get started with WebRTC. His talk will some history on how WebRTC got started, intro to the WebRTC API's, tools to get up and running quickly, what you'll need in a production environment, and where WebRTC is headed.(speech level: novice; duration: 20 minutes)

He’ll be talking about a simple metrics and logging service they created, a video performance mystery, a solution to that mystery via better metrics, and an extremely embarrassing confession. Rapid development of Live Streaming and Second Screen Experiences for Your Mobile Apps [Chris Allen @mrchrisallen (https://twitter.com/mrchrisallen)]
Infrared5 co-founder Chris Allen will lead a discussion on live video chat, live streaming and second screen experiences. He will cover why he believes that these features will become commonplace in mobile apps of the future. Chris will talk about the challenges of building live communication apps today, and will delve into how and why his team developed the new Red5 Pro Server and corresponding SDKs (http://red5pro.com). Chris will live-code a multi-device video chat application from scratch and show other use cases, such as leveraging a phone as a second screen controller in retail settings.(speech level: intermediate; duration: 20 minutes)
