He currently work for Tilde Inc in Portland, Oregon, splitting his time between building Skylight and open-source consulting. In his previous life, he was also an award-winning WordPress™ plugin author.

Three Handlebars templates walk into one of the newly-opened HTMLBars on the block. After having a few drinks, they each put down a $100 bill. The renderer said to them, “sorry, no change” and left the DOM untouched.

In this talk, we will take a close look at this library that powers Ember's “Glimmer" rendering engine under-the-hood. What is HTMLBars? What does it actually do? How does it work? How does it compares to React’s Virtual DOM or Google’s Incremental DOM? Is it even fast? Can I use it without Ember? Come on over and see for yourself!
