Technical cross-country ride at Barton Creek Greenbelt
Details
This is a ride call for the Barton Creek Greenbelt back-country. This is NOT a beginner-level ride in any way.
WE WILL BE WHEELS DOWN AT 6 or when everyone is there, whichever comes first!!
Several miles of the route require some good technical riding skill to negotiate safely. They are very chunky/rocky like Lake Georgetown, only much worse. There will also be some steep extended climbs, exposed drops on the sides of the trail, and many large ledges and drops in the middle of it all. Intermediates are more than welcome to come out, but ride at your own risk.
IT WILL BE A FAST PACE ride on the main trail till we get to the big climb up to the rocks, then a slow crawl through the gnar, then FAST back to the cars when we are once more on the main trail.
If you get dropped on the main trail, the group will not be waiting though we will make sure anyone who starts through the "gnar" with us makes it out the other side. It is a self-drop ride otherwise.
Bring everything you need to be self-sufficient. BRING YOUR LIGHTS in case we are a little past sunset getting back. I predict we will be well clear of the dangerous stuff before dark (hopefully). Bring at least one inner tube and some duct-tape for tire repairs just in case. Make sure your chain is not skipping/jumping/dropping or you will get very hurt.
Helmet and hydration are of course required as is a durable well-tuned mountain bike.
Full-Fingered Gloves, Elbow, and Knee protection recommended!
Please read the following rules on group ride etiquette prior to attending:

The ride will be a 90-120 minutes long over 10-15 miles distance.
