Announcing a new Meetup for The Melbourne Movie Fans Meetup Group!

What: The Melbourne Movie Fans February Meetup

When: Monday, February 15,[masked]:30 PM

Cinema Nova Box Office
380 Lygon St Carlton

The Cinema Nova seems to be agreeable to most members of this group (we've also tried the Kino in the CBD - Collins st, but it has only 4 - not 11 - screens and nothing like the "buzz" of Carlton as a venue). This is a reasonably central location and at a good price on a Monday night ($8 special). And there is reasonable parking nearby.

We meet opposite the Nova Box office (there's a bunch of tables and chairs for the bar/cafe there) for a bit of a chat/introduction - and maybe to read briefly through any review pamphlets for any films (these can be found on the counter adjacent to the box office).

To help find me - my mobile number is[masked] (live answer) and I will have a selection of the movie pamphlets on the table in front (or beside) me.

There are eleven movie screens and we'll check the starting times (on the TV screen above the box office) and "vote" on which film to see. (one that's starting within say 40 minutes or so). Afterwards, we'll find a nearby bar or cafe (say Brunetti's in Farady st) for a late night snack and to chat about the film and/or life in general. (it's probably a good idea to get at least a quick snack before the start of the film if you had lunch a fair while ago and are hungry).

If you're coming by car, there's an underground carpark on Drummond (between Faraday and Elgin sts) with free two hours and $3/hour thereafter (hang on to your cinema ticket to show them for the discount). Here's a map of the location of the cinema

And here's a website to the Cinema Nova: http://www.cinemanova...

Try to be on time (or early)... It's easy to mis-estimate the amount of time it'll take to drive, or commute across town. If you're too early it's easy to kill time browsing at Borders bookshop alongside, or at Readings bookshop on the other side of Lygon St.
