Are you up for an all day adventure on the Great Miami River? Covering 14 miles and portaging 3 dams is more than an adventure, its an "All the Dam Dams in Dayton Challenge!"

THE PADDLE
We will paddle 14.3 miles from the low side of the Taylorsville dam [GM 90.9] to our take out area just north or the Tait Station dam [GM 76.6] on The Great Miami River (near Carillon Historical Park). There is not a livery for boat rental or a shuttle. You will need to own your own boat and be willing to shuttle with other kayakers on this Meet Up.  If you do not have a boat, rental information is included below.

We will meet at 9:00 AM at the boat launch area and agree on shuttle logistics.  We will prepare boats for launch and a group will stage vehicles for shuttle at the take out location. If you are running late, please call. I will provide my cell number once RSVP's close.  The latest you may arrive is 9:15 AM to ensure the group is on the water as soon as possible.

• Start
We plan to push of from the shoreline at 9:30 AM (launch time)

• Finish

Whew! That was quite the paddle! Super-dee-dooper company, just enough challenges, the fountains, the turtles, the secret island passage way... So much fun! (Well, maybe 'cept for the the stinging nettles bathroom break and the little wrestling match I had with a tree...) You guys worked so hard on that last portage getting boats from here to there! Big thanks to Kenny for his planning and especially for his home-made-golf-caddy-kayak-wheelie thingy. Brilliant idea! Let's do it again. :)

Maybe when I'm not so wiped out from yaking the day before. Lol My hands were so sore this morning after handling a paddle for approximately 13 hours on two adventures down the GMR from Troy to Tipp City and from Vandalia to South of downtown Dayton.

Ruth, remind me not to challenge you to any endurance events. You rock ! Rhonda, way to get your second wind more than once and keep that boat moving. Kenny, you offered a challenge and we all got one. Thanks again for putting together a great trip.

Thanks for all your help, Frank, when it came to getting in and out of my kayak. I couldn't have made it without all of you guys helping me.

Today is now one of my best memories and was the funnest Labor Day that I've had in years. I met 2 great guys, Frank and Kenny, and re-met my kayaking classmate Ruth. I was so surprised that we'd done 16.1 miles on the Great Miami River from Taylorsville Dam to Carillon Park. Wow! Combined with the paddling I'd done yesterday from Troy to Tipp City, I've done 36.1 miles in 20 hours. That's got to be a record for a newbie. Lol The best part was seeing the Riverscape fountain starting up right when I was stuck north of it. The next was the bells starting at 6pm right when we were coming in to finish and made a nice end to a great day. Without the companions I was with and the help and encouragement they gave, I wouldn't have made. Thank you so much, Frank, Kenny, and Ruth, for making today possible, and I look forward to many more paddling adventures together. Once I'm not wiped out, I'll upload all the pics I took once I transfer them from my camera. Peace out and keep on floating.

Had a fabulous day. We paddled 16+ miles on the Great Miami River. Saw a buck on the shoreline, portaged 3 dams, had a fish almost hit me in the face as it jumped over my boat, paddled through the water fountains at the confluence of the Mad River and GMR, and so much more. Time to go back to work for some rest.

And a Challenge it was. My GPS showed 16.1 miles give or take a U turn or two.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
