Announcing a new Meetup for Tokyo Museum Meetup Group!
What: Movie: Tetsuo: the Iron Man
When: Saturday, June 12,[masked]:45 PM
Baus Theater in Kichijoji is hosting a movie festival called Bakuon Film Festival. Bakuon literally means explosive sound, and a concert grade sound system is installed in the theater to screen films with good and dynamic sound during the festival. I saw a screening of a documentary called "Soul Power" at the beginning of the festival. The film includes live footage of musicians like James Brown, and the experience of seeing it with the sound system was incredible.
The festival will end on June 12th, and "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" will be the last film to be screened in the program. "Tetsuo: The Iron man" is a Japanese cult movie from 80's. The film was created in a style of German Expressionist films with a heavy post-industrial overtone, and the low budget movie helped its director, Shinya Tsukamoto, to gain international fame in the underground film circuit. "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" is not for every movie lovers. It is extremely violent and often time weird and grotesque. (If you think Quentin Tarantine's movies are edgy, you should skip this movie.) However, this movie will entertain you if you love movies and can think outside the box. Let's enjoy this Cyberpunk classic with explosive sound.
