SWAN was founded by Fawn Carr in 2006 as a group focused on giving back to the community with a concentration on helping struggling women get back on track and back into the work force.

"When I owned my salon and day spa I intended to work with local charities to help women get back to work after a period of absence due to motherhood, unstable career choices, abusive relationships, drug dependencies, etc. I found that it was sometimes difficult to get full cooperation with organizations that were primarily volunteer based and struggling with a lack of (wo)man power and resources. Our initial focus was giving complimentary make-overs and doing suit drives to help prepare women for interviews. With my HR background I found myself helping women revise and edit their resumes as well. In doing so I came across a common issue...what to do if your resume was less than favorable? I decided to create a network of non-judgmental women business owners, manager and executives who were willing to give these women a new chance to get on their feet by offering jobs and resources for career development and mentoring. Before we knew it SWAN was born"

Over the years the direction of SWAN has grown and changed somewhat but the mission remains essentially the same - we are a group of giving and caring individuals who are willing to donate our time to help others in need.
