Play vs. Grails, Pros and Cons

UPDATE: This presentation was originally schedule for July, but has been moved to May.

Play and Grails are a couple of very popular web frameworks. See Greg walk through a couple apps built with Play and Grails. Discover the tradeoffs made when picking each platform and what drove him to make his choices. This isn't so much a smack down but instead a tradeoff analysis with real code. Perhaps it can help you with decisions you are having to make.

Bonus: Discover what options can mitigate the risk of switching web app stacks and avoid shock to your clients.

Come to the meeting and enjoy some pizza and soda/beer for free. We usually meet a little early to socialize and then kick things off. Hope to see ya' there!

Greg is a member of the Spring team at Pivotal, a spin off of VMware and EMC. He launched the Nashville JUG over two years ago and wrote  "Spring Python 1.1" and "Python Testing Cookbook". He has been a Spring fan for years.

I always enjoy seeing new JVM technologies. As always, Greg was very knowledgeable and thorough in his presentation.

Topic was over this beginner's head, but I absorbed a lot. Definitely worth going and I plan to attend again in the future.
