And we've assumed they would have planets orbiting them, as we do in our own solar system. However, in recent years, we've gone from assuming to actually detecting the possible presence of other planets near distant stars. In this cafe session, we'll sit down with Rocky Alvey, Director of the Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory about the ongoing search and discovery of other planets in the universe, How do we know they are there? How do we know what type of planet they might be? Is it possible we would find another Earth?
