....An absolutely wonderful afternoon, in my opinion.

An idea I have considered since yesterday evening pitching for the February meeting seems to fit well with the options you are considering, and so I'll go ahead and put it in now: I thought we might consider making a natural building gift for our hosts at mosnart (www.tallskinny.com/mosnart), namely perhaps something like a handmade natural brick with a Tadelakt coating.  Of course the idea is open to fine tuning, alteration, or even nixing: It's just one of many possibilities for involvement. Even if we couldn't come up with a natural brick, a found or salvaged brick or item with Tadelakt coating is likely to be appreciated and even adored.

Furthermore, for anyone interested more in salvaged materials on good resource with plenty of inventory is Old Growth Trading Company (www.oldgrowthtradingco.com) in Hampshire, IL about 1.5 hours west of the city.  It's a call-before-you-come type of operation, but the stock includes antique barn boards and timbers, whole barn frames, salvaged industrial flooring (which is sometimes two or more inches thick), and odds and ends such as cut stones and weathervanes.  The owner worked for the government restoring historic monuments, and has collected for decades.  He'll also mill antique timbers and size and plane boards.

It was delightful to see everyone yesterday and play in the weeds.  (What a jackpot of materials; next winter we might want to rent a box truck.)  It was especially nice to meet the newcomers, both fascinating people who I'm glad are interested and involved in natural building.  Our events tend to be not just educational but also inspiring, and I was inspired by you.  Yesterday we got the added treat of amazement, and I'm grateful to have gotten to have time with you in such an environment.

Thanks, too, to everyone working behind the scenes with planning, consultation, and whatever else you're doing.  I look forward to the last Saturday of February, and hope to be in communication with the group in the meantime.

Sincerely,

Jonathan P.
