Is it really appropriate to be petitioning the Supreme Court? Anyone can send them an amicus brief when a case is up for review, but in general I thought courts were supposed to be independent of popular opinion and decide solely on legal considerations. I wouldn't want a separation of church and state case decided by a court based on popular opinion, so why this? Why not more efforts to amend the constitution instead? I agree with the sentiment, but this rubs me the wrong way. Plus, what can the USSC do at this point? I think it's a ploy to get people to the website and after you sign you get asked for money. (Like with all of these advocacy groups.)

Dear G,

11,000 people just signed on to a letter to the Supreme Court.

But here’s what was truly extraordinary: Hundreds of people wrote incredibly compelling, personal comments supporting new efforts to overturn Citizens United.

And we want The Court to see them.

So we’re taking every single comment, printing them out, and hand delivering them to the U.S. Supreme Court. Will you take a minute right now to add your name?

Check out what people are saying and add your own comments:

“It does not matter what one’s views swing, left or right. This is one issue we can ALL Agree on. Citizen’s United destroys our democracy!”

“I’m a conservative, and I agree that all the big money from corporations and unions needs to be removed from our political process.”

“Our government no longer represents "We The People" but rather the special money interests. Washington now operates on a system of legalized bribery!”

History shows that the courts listen to public opinion. We think a letter from 11,000 Americans is pretty impressive - especially when they are real, personalized comments. With your help it could be 20,000 by this Friday.

Keep up the good work!
- Josh Silver
