In 1773 a group of independent voters stood up for the rights of the American people, they called themselves the Boston Tea Party, as it was then it is now, there was a tax called the tea tax, now it is ObamaCare tax, unemployment was high, the government lied to the people, as they do now about unemployment, saying it is 7.5%, really it is around 17%, folks our forefathers are in heaven watching us and counting on us to do the right thing, and that is to vote OBAMA OUT OF OFFICE, NEED I SAY MORE my brothers and sisters, so go out in the great STATE of Ohio and tell this email to all you can find, our country and freedom is at hand, make history and vote the one who wants to take our freedom away out of the house on election day and put in a new leader!!!

Those who threw the tea into Boston harbor didn't have to worry about helping to manage a nation of 300 million people; furthermore, they were protesting taxation without representation. This is why when the modern-day "Tea Party" appeared in 2009 and co-opted the tricorn hats, etc., it appeared quaint but very stupid.

Sure we have taxation, but we have representation... and now that the smarter, more pragmatic & diplomatic of the 2 choices has been re-elected, we have to face the fact that it is an abomination that tens of millions of working Americans cannot afford decent healthcare services.

In other words, I'm very glad Obama triumphed smile

I also think that Congress is to blame moreso than Obama. Obama definitely has his faults, and I don't agree with some of the things he's doing (or not doing), but he has been stonewalled by Congress every step of the way, and he's not the one drafting ridiculous bills against women's rights, the environment, and everything else that will hurt this country even more in the end. We need to completely overhaul Congress, not the President.

i would like to object to the fact that reactionaries are allowed to post here, this is a private organization we can censor anyone we like, and we should. why bother arguing with these lunatics? and i seriously mean lunatics, these people are hostile to democracy misuse the principles of the american revolution the founder were liberals, but in a pre industrial setting . They were deists and rationalists , they were children of the enlightenment, Tom Paine was an atheist and was one of the first people to advocate creation of a welfare state, far before Marx, or john stewart mills.
if the tea party people would have been alive in 1776 i seriously doubt they would have joined the revolution, being reactionaries they would have been loyal to old king george to the death. the ideas they advocate were radical 200 years ago now they are horribly reactionary. why not let Al-Qaeda or the ku klux klan post here? these people are terrorists, they can post their hate speech some place else , you are under no obligation, to allow them to express themselves here its your private site tell them to get off our lawn! these people are the enemy they are opposed to everything we stand for..I'm requesting you ban them from the site

I'm a socialist, I'm a registered member of the socialist party? Why / Well it started as a joke. I got so sick of people telling me to join the socialist party and vote for them in 2008, i did. i felt obama would be divisive and boy was i right. but i voted for him in 2012 because of my blind hatred of the tea party and every bigoted small minded thing it stands for. I like obama.. he is far from being a socialist and there fore i am frustrated people expect me to defend him. That said i think my major objection to obama-care is that it does so little and is so slanted to the insurance industry. I ideologically favor a single payer system like the Canadians have. However this is problematic on two levels. One the Canadian system has serious issues its running a deficit and there is the problem of waiting lists. no one has to wait for life threatening conditions but some surgeries are inconvenient to wait for. Most aspects are superior to ours. its "free" well it isn't free, its payed for with taxes but when you enter and leave the hospital their is no bill no one dies for lack of coverage. 15,000 die in the usa for lack of care. life expectancy is higher and infant mortality rates are lower much lower. For our nation with its aversion to government run anything the dutch system seems to be the best fit , its is regulated but private, it is the managed competition model many conservative praise.. it is free to children under 18 and if you are poor the government pays the 150 euro a month cost..

I want to be clear. In the classic traditional definition of socialism, I am not a socialist . Maybe a social democrat if that.
The policies I advocate are basically third way http://en.wikipedia.o...) which many modern social democrats have retreated to. Basically the market works. It does. The problem with capitalism does not distribute resources properly or equitably basically the debate between us and them is this debate -->Krugman rules!
