Unconference Lightning Talks

Details
To start off the new year, we’re going to do unconference Barcamp style lightning talks!
The format:
6:30PM Sign up to give a talk! Bring a topic and any presentation materials you want to use—we’ll have a presenter laptop available if you don’t have one, just make sure to send your slides ahead of time to Zach’s email (zachleatherman@gmail.com)
6:45PM Schedule will be set and talks begin! Preference will be given to first time speakers, they’ll go first on the schedule.
Talks will be short: about 5 minutes (we’ll hard stop at 7 minutes and have a timer to keep things flowing) about a specific focused topic (don’t make it too broad, the time limit is short!)
Need help picking a topic? Here’s some resources for ideas:
• Can I Use (http://caniuse.com/)
• State of Web Type (http://stateofwebtype.com/)
• anything from ES6 (http://kangax.github.io/compat-table/es6/)
• new platform features from Chrome (https://www.chromestatus.com/features) or Microsoft (https://dev.windows.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/status/)
• Specifiction from WICG (http://discourse.wicg.io/)
• a11y Project (http://a11yproject.com/)
• A favorite blog post you read (or wrote, too)
• A favorite GitHub issue you saw
• A favorite NPM package (https://www.npmjs.com/)
Due to time and integrity constraints, we won’t accept any talks that are sales pitches, sorry.
We’ll do as many talks as we can fit in before concluding at around 8:00PM.
Talks videos will be opt-in by default: all talks will be off-the-record unless you want to be recorded and published on the web site.
If this is a complete failure and no one volunteers to do a talk, I’ll read the HTML specification aloud for 60 minutes. So that’s some incentive: you can do a better job than that!
Afterwards, we’ll go for snacks and drinks at DJ’s Dugout.
