Grunt, Yeoman, Yo, and Bower

This meetup will feature combo sessions on workflow tools:

“You can use Grunt to automate just about anything with a minimum of effort. If someone hasn't already built what you need, authoring and publishing your own Grunt plugin is a breeze. The less work you have to do when performing repetitive tasks like minification, compilation, unit testing, linting, etc, the easier your job becomes.”

—This talk will be presented by the venerable Mr. John Hobbs (@jmhobbs) of What Cheer. If you have a dog, check out their new startup Pack! He also blogs at

“After Grunt we will take a look at Yeoman. It incorporates Grunt as part of a workflow strategy for developing modern web apps with best practices in mind. We'll take a look at the other pieces that make up Yeoman - Yo for scaffolding, and Bower for package management, then do a run-through of a sample app from creation to deployment.”

—The second half of our meetup will be presented by the gentlemanly, scholarly NebraskaJS coordinator emeritus Andrew Wirick (@amwirick). He is one half of Goodtwin and a world-class homebrewer.

—Special guest light(n)ing talk appearance by Alex Gates (@alexpgates) on how he set up voice controlled lighting in his home using JavaScript:

Interesting, fun presentations. I usually learn just as much from watching the presenter use their laptop/apps/terminal as I do the subject matter.

I agree, watching how other devs work enhances the whole experience.

Great presenters, just wish we didn't have all the technical problems. The Grunt, Yeoman, Yo and Bower topics started with some pretty high assumptions though. I may suggest with topics like this in the future that they start a little more basic to grasp the idea of them first before diving into code.
