NetSquared Meetup: Cloud Reality Check

The cloud, the cloud, the cloud. It seems that you can’t open up a web browser or go to a conference without being inundated with advertisements and enticements for how the cloud can solve all of your IT problems. The challenge seems to be clarifying exactly what this so called cloud is and how it can help our organization operate more effectively and deliver services more efficiently.

Matt Eshleman, Director of Professional Network Services at Community IT Innovators will talk about whether the CLOUD is the solution to all of our IT problems. Is out of sight, truly out of mind? His presentation will discuss the fundamentals of cloud computing and answer some common questions related to implementing a cloud strategy.

The content of the first presentation was a bit weak, especially on costs. Too much focus on email. I liked how the second presentation brought up the human factors to consider. I wish we spent more time on that.

Thanks Matt & Usha for your excellent presentations! We all got a good reality check on the benefits and risks involved in moving to the cloud.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
