Hello NetSquared DC friends,

I wanted to make sure you knew about RootsCamp, a huge unconference we're holding at GW on 12/11-12/12. If you're a progressive organizer, online or off, campaign or issue, you belong there: http://rootscampdc-matt.eventbrite.com/?(the referral tracking's for our internal purposes only?- there's no referral bonus :-).

Apologies to those of you who have already heard about this five different places. Gotta cover my bases :-)

We're going to have 1,000 organizers attending, and we're working to make sure all of the roles and all of the circles of the progressive movement are well represented.

Registration for both days is only $20, so I can promise the best return on your event dollar, even as a fan of free events. Many of you have been to RootsCamp before, so I hope to see you again!

The vision is to hold an organizer-driven election debrief, which plays nicely into the format.?It's an UNconference, so the agenda is completely up to attendees. We facilitate things to make sure your time is well used, but the end result is that you get to really dive into what YOU need to talk about. There are no pre-planned Powerpoints, but people do come ready to teach and share what they've learned. You should do the same. We have a strict "vote with your feet" rule that gives you the freedom to get everything you can out of the weekend. And there will be opportunities to party with your new friends.

You're going to find people sharing what worked and what didn't at a very candid level, with genuine conversations and relationship building. Lastly, you'll get to meet new co-conspirators to plot the course ahead for next year. Some truly amazing stuff has come out of conversations started at RootsCamp.

Full information is at http://rootscamp.org/. Please hit me up if you have any questions about it, because I'd love to see you there.?Register now, as this will sell out:?http://rootscampdc-matt.eventbrite.com/.

Even if you can't make it to the event, we want to recognize the amazing work you and your allies have been doing.?That's why we created the Most Valuable Organizer awards --?http://mvo.rootscamp.org/. There are categories for Most Valuable Organizer, Campaign, Technology, and Experiment.?You can nominate and vote?on any of these regardless of whether you are coming to RootsCamp (although the final vote will be cast in person by RootsCamp attendees).

I'm most excited about the Most Valuable Experiment award, where we'll celebrate the innovations and gambles that don't always pan out, but were worth trying. This category came directly out of conversations we had at Web of Change about the need to fail faster, fail better, share our risks, and generally constantly seek to improve how we create change. Consider this an open call to the community to consider nominating an experiment of our own:?https://sites.google.com/site/rootscamp2010/vote/mve. (Hint: there are prizes).

Anyway, I moved up to Boston and I miss all of you. Can't wait to see some of you at RootsCamp!

Warmest regards,
