Today we are launching a brand new photo uploader for your Meetup photo albums! The original Java based photo uploader had issues with freezing, crashing, network timeouts, and was simply not reliable. The new uploader is based on a Flash application named SWFUpload and coupled with many other improvements, should make the entire process of uploading photos from your Meetups much less painful.
We've created a new page that shows all of a group's Meetup reviews. Meetup reviews are a great way for Organizers to know what members thought of recent Meetups. Prospective members can get a good idea if a group is right for them and inactive members can see what they've been missing out on. You can get to the Meetup Reviews page by clicking "Meetups" and then "Reviews". Non-members can not see the Meetup Reviews page for private groups.
We've made it easy to let others know you've arrived at a Meetup! Today we added the ability for members to check-in to their Meetups. By checking-in you're also making it easier for members to see who's there and find the group.
Last week we took a break from how we normally do product development and spent the entire week polishing up the existing site - everything from cleaning up copy to user interface tweaks to small enhancements. If it could be done in less than a day, we tackled it. Here are some of the 75 improvements we made...
We wanted to make sure that you don't miss any upcoming Meetups, so we decided (after many requests) to move the calendar on your member home page to the top of the page. The group list, which does not change as frequently, is now moved down below your calendar.
We've updated the way a Meetup Group's rating is calculated to make it more straightforward. Now the group rating is an average of all of your Meetup's ratings.
Now you can share links to your Meetup Group's presence on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, LinkedIn, Tumblr, or your own blog or website. It can be a great way to promote your group, as well as connect with individual members in creative ways.
Now the people you know on Meetup can connect with you on other popular sites across the web. You can choose to add your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Flickr links on your Meetup profile to make it easy for your fellow Meetup members to join your networks.
We just launched two updates to help make a group's "Latest activity" feed smarter and easier to read! First, all RSVPs and comments around a Meetup event will be combined into a single feed item. Second, when several members take the same action (join a group, vote for an idea or respond to a Meetup event), each respective feed item will display two members who recently took the same action.
Now, the feed will better highlight Meetup events and make aggregated feed items even more interesting!
Organizers, now you can add HTML to your Meetup Group's description! Use the easy HTML editor to create vibrant, exciting pages to give potential members a better understanding of what the group is about, what the Meetups are like, etc...
