Be part of our first Men’s fitness night.
In theory, yoga seems really appealing to you but the idea of a room full of overly sweaty, overly flexible women intimidates you and turns you off. You want muscle tone and athletic body, but spending hours in a dingy, smelly weight room with genetic mutant meatheads who can bench press triple their IQ seems primitive, mentally uninspired, and boring. You would like to meet new men who a...re fun, adventurous, and athletic instead of the same idiots rambling about how trashed they got last weekend.
Come challenge your mind and body by learning to climb a rope, do a handstand, overload your abs, explore the limits of your balance, and do yoga with the extra challenge to your core, stability, and upper body muscles of putting classic yoga poses on acrobatics equipment. Learn to lengthen and stretch your muscles with fun partner yoga and partner exercises from Thai massage. Do basic partner acrobatics moves. See that you can experience the benefits of yoga without the distraction of any new age bullshit.
There are tons of options for fitness beginners and people looking to lose weight, but we think that the needs of the intermediate to advanced athlete are not well served. This night is about guys who want to be really challenged, work hard, and be around people who are similar. We will start out on yoga mats (bring one if you have one but there will be plenty of extras). From there, we will alternate from work on mats, ropes, fabrics, and trapeze. Everything will be done on or near the ground. The few things somewhat higher off the ground will be optional. A fear of heights is NOT an issue. This class will be hard even if you are in good shape so I would advise you not to work out earlier in the day.
Please wear long pants without metal. Fitted is better. Shorts are okay if you don’t have anything else but leg protection is helpful. Wear an athletic shirt or tank top long enough to overlap your pants by a decent margin (to provide body coverage). Again, fitted is better to not get caught in acrobatics gear or get in the way for partner work. Please don’t wear makeup, lotion, or cologne. Please do come freshly showered and wearing clean clothes since you will be in close proximity to other people. If you have any spinal or shoulder issues, this probably isn’t the right workout for you. Most of the exercises are body weight based and gravity is brutally honest so this class isn’t for the overweight.
Cost of the workshop is $30 for two hours. There will be an instructor and an assistant instructor. Mason did his yoga instructor training with Ana Forrest in 2006 and is a trained TRX instructor, Thai body work practitioner, acrobatics coach, and is currently in massage school to be an LMP. Dru has understudied with Mason in Thai body work, yoga, and acrobatics and has a strong background in fitness, cheerleading, and modeling. There will be beverages and snacks provided as part of the workshop. Please pass the info along to your friends.
We look forward to a great workout!
