Yes it's been too long since we've had a meetup. Now that the summer's officially over, I'm thinking about where our next events can be... Let me know what you think about these ideas:
Some of our fellow members (coincidentally, all women) have written to me suggesting an event where people can get dressed up. I'm all for this idea. There cannot be too much beauty in life -- I don't know why Americans are so often notoriously underdressed. What's wrong with getting dressed up just for the sake of being well-dressed and appreciating that? (Carrie of "Sex in the City" would appreciate this!)
Coincidentally, some of our other fellow members (interestingly, all men) have suggested that I do my idea on searching for the best beer (for me, it's Guinness!) on tap, in the 5-boros. I have done some research, & now have a list of the oldest/best/Irish bars in the city, along w/ some history about what makes these bars special.
Would it be possible to combine these two ideas?
What if we all got dressed up just for the hell of it? Just because the economy's in the pits doesn't mean we have to go out looking like we're fighting a recession.
What do YOU like? Going to the oldest pub(s) in the city & learning about their history? Or, going to a more upscale pub? Is playing pool part of your vision for this nice evening?
Or, what about going to a Scandinavian restaurant and trying unusual, delicious cocktails, and then going to a jazz club? Or, just going to a jazz club?
Write back soon - I'll post an event for sometime this month. WHICH NIGHT DO YOU PREFER?
