How long have you been studying Japanese? What got you interested?

I studied from about 1996-1999. I was married to a girl from Tokyo at the time. I thought to brush up my rusty skills. I did help out with a Japanese email system on

What is your current level? (beginner, intermediate, advanced, fluent)

I used to be intermediate but would would be sort of advanced beginner now, I suppose.

What would you like to work on the most in this group? (reading comprehension, Listening comprehension, writing, or speaking)

Speaking but also writing. I set up my laptop to work with Japanese input method editor.

What resources do you use/suggest for Japanese learning? (books, websites, etc.)

My laptop with Japanese enabled, I am looking into online resources.

What goal would you like to reach in your Japanese studies 6-12 months from now?

Conversational level to be able to get around in Japan if I should visit. I want to do something better than to point at what I wanted to eat at the decorative food display at the front of the restaurant!

I studied Japanese at KSU in the late 90's but I am a bit rusty to say the least. My youngest daughter is Japanese-American. All of her family over there is accounted for after the quake and tsunami. We do have Japan TV at home!
