Fellow Community Green Members,
I’m writing to announce an important change for Community Green. As the final phase of the creation and evolution of this nearly 5 year green journey, I’m passing the torch and you’ll have a new leader at the helm. Marnie Vyff has been a volunteer with Community Green almost since its creation and has been a steady and positive force for our cause throughout our many stages of development.
CG has been a true labor of love and a life changing experience for me. It has been the manifestation of a leadership project I started with Landmark Education. From its inception it was designed to be a center for the GREEN Community in NJ and a place where leaders can be born and find voice locally. It’s been a place to share ideas and build bridges across disparate groups and individuals passionate about green living.
Our mission has always been to keep this a positive and empowering journey. CG has been open to all levels of interest, and has adapted to the needs and passions of its members. While we dabbled in various organizational structures, including a non-profit status, I’ve found that how CG thrived best is as a pure meetup. Much has been accomplished without dependence on paperwork and fundraisers. We have enjoyed the generous contributions of venues and expertise from many allied organizations, businesses and educators in our region. Our results have included the spawning of new initiatives, businesses, leaders and lifestyle shifts fueled by CG’s inspiring dialog and valuable support network.
For myself, I have found my voice and my true self expression through our sustainable living programs. What has most resonated for me personally is the concept of “Voluntary Simplicity”. The revelations I experienced have dramatically altered my life’s path and led me to a more peaceful, healthful life in Colorado. While I still look forward to being a member of Community Green, and keeping up on its exciting progress, I know that I cannot lead in a community I no longer reside.
Marnie’s knowledge, commitment and passion for our cause is a perfect fit for the new leadership role and I invite you to join me in welcoming her and supporting her efforts in any way you can.
With deep love & gratitude,
Community Green Founder
