More about Dean Levitt:
Born and raised on a 30 acre farm in Knoppieslaagte near Johannesburg, Dean Levitt moved to the US in 1999 with his brother Gary Levitt (Mad Mimi's CEO) to pursue a career in music. It was while trying to promote their music production company, Gary had the idea that would later evolve into Mad Mimi, a powerful email marketing application. Dean Levitt has been nurturing the culture of Mad Mimi since it's inception, changing customers into fans for true organic viral growth.
MadMimi is home to over 85,000 customers, sending out over 30 million emails per day. That's even more than that mailmonkey company...all while spending $0 on marketing.

Very good. Artsicle are my heros!
I would love to have the guys from Dogpatch come over to talk about what an excellorator does, what they look for in start ups, etc.

Great meetup. The talks started a bit later than I expected but overall very good presentations. Dean Levitt's presentation was terrific

Really enjoyed the keynote. Email marketing is something everybody has to do and few do well so it was nice to hear from an expert on that subject.

Great group of startup presentations and a terrific featured speaker (Mad Mimi). It was great to see an up and coming email business embrace a practical view of business and marketing that un-complicates things and streamlines process and expenses.

Some very interesting startups and good tips and stats on email marketing management. Great to see everyone.

I enjoyed the mad mimi email presentation. It certainly raised my email effectiveness and mistakes to consider awareness. Thanks

This was my first visit and I thought it was a great networking opportunity. Suggestion: publicize names of startups who will be pitching beforehand and have them available for networking afterwards or before the meetup begins.

The NJ Tech Meetups are always good, and I enjoyed this one.
Some areas for imporvement:
Pitchers for companies should get a watch and prepare their presentation. The guy from Horizon squandered his time. With a little preparation he could have given a much more interesting preseantation.
It would have been nice if Dean Levitt had included a few examples (sample ) with his talk. Again, a bit more preparation from him would have made a good talk into a great talk.

A lively group of entrepreneurs and angels. I met some new friends with great ideas and saw a few familiar faces from past meetups.

Great Meetup as always. Aaron does a fantastic job in bringing innovative startups each time. Also the guest speaker of Mad Mimi gave the audience great insights into email marketing.

Freaking awesome. Met some awesome entrepreneurs and made some connections that are probably going to really pay off.

It was awesome! I've been to the last two, 15 & 16 and they were both inspiring. Alot of interesting entrepreneurs and great ideas.
September 20, 2011
while e-mail marketing presentation was informative, I would have liked to hear more "stories" from people about how they build their company and lessons learned - I felt that the e-mail presentation was more suitable for a workshop session format; don't think the presenter was of the caliber of the previous few

The meetup is really fun. I especially loved hearing about Artsicle! Even the boring speakers had interesting ideas and inspiring intelligent questions. It's also a great place to network.

First time attendee, and I found the whole night useful and enjoyable. Great tips on email marketing, and interesting presentations from the startups in the room. The phone-based trivia was a great way to end the night.
September 20, 2011
I liked how this speaker actually gave useful tips and practical advice as oppose to lecturing us about the intricacies of their business.

Please note the room for Monday's NJTech Meeetup, the Howe Center>4th Floor (it may not be the same building you're used to, though we've been in there before). I was able to open up 30 more seats (thank you Stevens!), but there are still 20+ on the waitlist. If you can't come, please update your RSVP now and not at the last minute. You can work at Mission Fifty for free on Monday before the event. Have a great weekend. - Aaron
