HackNight: So you think you want to start hardware project!? Going beyond LEDs
Details
Tonight we'll have Mariko Kosaka for storytime. She's well known for reverse engineering a knitting machine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1Cc1vrvjdY), and deep diving into computer history, graphics and signal processing, and running BrooklynJS (http://brooklynjs.com)!
She writes:
Working with hardware always intimidated me. Even though you can blink a LED in 5 lines of JavaScript, I fear wires and sharp pins of microcontrollers...Do I electrocute myself if I don't put this resistor? what is circuit? In this talk I'll demystify electronics with craft material & illustrations.
And as always, Mariko puts on a great show.
Afterwards we'll have project hour (or half an hour depending on how long the talks and Q/A goes).
Looking for a food sponsor! Proceeds as always goto scripted (https://www.scripted.org/).
Ever work with Resin.io (https://resin.io/)? It's the only way I've gotten my Edison's to be fun to deploy to (`git push resin robot`), and I bet if you have a raspberry pi that's been collecting dust, it will help get it going (sans keyboard and mouse). I'd love to see that happen. What are you working on?
See you then!
