Drupal Global Training Day: What is Drupal?

Space is limited. Please register here to officially reserve your seat:

Drupal Global Training Days is an initiative by the Drupal Association to introduce new and beginning users to Drupal. The Drupal Association is partnering with NERDs and Last Call Media to make this happen. Once a quarter, free or low cost training events will take place around the world with one of two curriculums.

This half-day workshop will  be free and address the basics of Drupal, and will give an overview to those interested in evaluating or implementing Drupal. Instruction will be provided by Last Call CEO, Kelly Albrecht, and Last Call CTO, Rob Bayliss. Coffee will be provided. Brown bag lunch or snacks are encouraged. We invite you to come Learn Drupal!

As Dr. Mark Friedman explains:

"Drupal was created by geeks (and not from some existing in-use system at some content shop), it has a geek feel to it - in its community and in its use. A few geeks sat around and thought, "How can we create a very well architected modular system to do content management?" and Drupal's policy is we will change things to make the core system an even better architected system even if it breaks the non-core modules when we upgrade to a new major system...."

[However], "Drupal 7 put an emphasis on the UI [user interface] and there is a sub-community of designers that now have a significant voice in the community. "

It will be held at the Forbes Library in the Community room in Northampton, MA. Space is limited. Please register here to officially reserve your seat.

Outstanding! It was a good intro, and motivated me to try drupal again and really learn how to manage it before trying to do *anything* with a site.

I might have missed it in the emails, it would have been good if I knew to register at before attending.

so, wonder if I'm sufficiently geeky to be in the conversation as my interest is in understanding the process (never having used drupal) and its relationship to design options. I'm not interested in out of the box templates, but rather tailoring a design to fit the personality of a website's owner.

AND since there is no calendar reference is this still a viable discussion (previous being 2010?) and its 2014??

Hi Rostislav, this event is slightly out dated but we have a monthly Drupal meetup that you can learn about here https://groups.drupal....

I'm helping organize a Western Mass Drupal Camp that is being organized by the WMA Drupal group ( This would be a great presentation to be given at the camp in January.
