I love Fresh China (not the buffet :P ... I get takeout from there often), but what options do we have in terms of other restaurants around here?

Ike's Place on Mendocino has a large selection of Vegan sandwiches with fake-meat and daiya cheese. Website is www.ILikeIkesPlace.com . Also Gaia's Garden on Mendocino which has a 100% vegetarian buffet, mostly vegan. Website is GaiasGardenOnline.com .

I do love Ike's and Gaia's Garden! I tried the Motel Thai last week and that was pretty awesome. I'm just thinking it would be nice to have another option for the meetup.

Very thankful for the fact that there was a good selection of food at the buffet (there were expected basics and some extra treats I was happy to see), there was a place for us all to meet, and they went out of their way to accommodate the group - not that we paid more than anyone else at the restaurant. It tasted so good, I definitely had seconds! Next time maybe we can get there earlier to figure out seating arrangements when possible, even though I think we're all self sufficient on introducing ourselves :) it's nice to be able to chat. Thanks again for organizing this, see you at the next meetup!

Great to see everyone again, wish the food was a bit better it I am pretty fussy about eating cold food, and sauces, variety and freshness, being a foodie:) Loved the conversation and the meeting up with new faces:))

I'd rather have the buffet than a "fancy sit down dinner," because I like making my own choices. It would be nice to have big tables next time so we can talk to more people.

My husband and I prefer the buffet too. Big tables in the back would be also be nice.

I liked the food, although I hate myself for being tempted by the deep fried food. This was my second time at this event. The first time we were crammed in the front area, this time in the walkway. I won't go again unless we can have the big room in the back. With 30 or so people going and paying $15 apiece, we should get first class treatment. They had the big room marked with "reserved", but all the time I was there, there was only one table being used. If we can't get the big room, I say forget it.

I hope everyone had a great Chinese New Year dinner at Fresh China few weeks ago.
If you can please, take 2 minute to give your honest review of Fresh China. http://www.yelp.com/biz/fresh-china-santa-rosa

It would be great to let others know that you can have healthy and delicious Chinese food without MSG.

Is there any interest in creating a "singles' table" at this dinner for unpartnered vegetarians to socialize and get to know each other?

The argumentative tone of the original "segregating " comment prevents me from feeling good about coming alone and single.

    February 9, 2013

    • wendy

Kim...i don't think it was meant to sound argumentative .....that's the trouble with the "written" word sometimes

      February 9, 2013

    • wendy

also, I don't think it was meant to be Only Singles, and Only couples..but, if there were some singles who wanted to sit together

Thanks for setting this up! Last time we met here, we had a fabulous dinner with many items that aren't even on the regular menu.
