"Portobello" by Ruth Rendell
"Rumi: Bridge to the Soul," translated by Coleman Barks; "The Pattern in the Carpet," by Margaret Drabble; and "Hitch-22," by Christopher Hitchens.
Fiction, history, politics, poetry, travel, mystery, law.
I worked in journalism for many years in DC before becoming a sheep farmer in Western Australia. I'm now an entrepreneur, opening a business in antique Persian rugs. I read Shelby Foote's trilogy on the Civil War while bottle-feeding lambs.
This was my first meeting, and I was very impressed with how well run and organized it was. Laura did a terrific job of keeping the flow of conversation going and raising points to consider and discuss. It was clear that it is a group of dedicated readers who bring a lot of knowledge to the discussions, and I look forward to the next Meetup and book.
