Are you Korean? Please join today. We have many English speakers waiting for you! 한국말로 말하고 싶어요!
http://www.meetup.com/NOVAKorean -- 856 events and counting! Our weekly events and active members often meet "offline" also. Join, if you want to hang out with your Northern Virginia friends learning English/Korean! We help each other improve upon the basics of written & conversational Korean & English.
We will definitely practice speaking! (Free Talking!) NoVa Korean (NoVaK) is truly blessed with high-quality people with a sincere desire to study and learn language and culture. We are a dynamic eclectic group.
NoVaK organizers plan several "meetups" each week. Attend an event and after you meet a few people it's easy to meet at a cafe or other location suitable for exchanging because we're all local. We're just a "text" away!
Our motives are a mixture of the practical, the learned, and the altruistic. Friends and professionals desire to interact more fluently with one another. Homemakers want to better help their children with schoolwork. Other people hope to get more out of K-pop (an abbreviation of Korean pop) (Korean: 가요), museums and movies, or to become useful volunteers for civic and charity groups.
• We are a people who conduct ourselves in an honest, trustworthy and ethical manner at all times.
• We are a people who gain strength from the diversity in our cultures.
*NOVA Korean members are serious about language semantics; Are you?*
Note from Jesse: I started the group and pay meetup to have it. The membership for you is complimentary. You are invited to sign up to every event. The only fees are for your dinner, commute, or movie ticket. (Please have cash on hand.) If there is a fee for an event we will make it clear. We have social events frequently with our main focus on improving colloquial speech. We have all levels in attendance. So... feel free to join up.
And... at the behest of many trusted members, I must ask you to please look for the yearly request for "Membership dues $5.00"'; Thank you! You can find it located above the "Follow us" on the left column. All donations (and much more) go right back to members in the way of supporting events.
Thank you very much. I am very grateful.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
