I haven't had a chance to meet many of you yet, but every member I have met has been wonderful, so I know I would love all of you to come to my going away party this Friday at Five Leaves Coffee House -- there will be live music, followed by a music jam and party. Here's the invitation and info:

Thanks so much for planning to come to my going away party this Friday. It?s looking like it will be quite the music party! Below this note, I am including links to the coffee house that is hosting the party, to the featured musician of the night, Tim Garst (a MUST SEE), and to some of the other great musicians who are planning to be there. You?ll get to hear all of them ? a few will join Tim as back-up, a couple will have short solos during Tim?s second set, and I believe all of them will be performing and jamming at the after-party. You can, too ? so, if you have an instrument, bring it along. Here are the details on date, time, location, who will be playing, what to bring, and links to all of it.

Friday, April 16

7-10 is the main performance, with Tim Garst and guests. See below for more info.
10-12 is the after party, with Tim and me and all kinds of great musicians. See below for more info.

Five Leaves Coffee House
3601 South Huron Street
Englewood, CO 80110
There is great food here ? pastries, a homemade soup of the day, a selection of Breggos (calzone-like sandwiches) and ? of course ? coffees, teas, and juices. There is also a great ambiance in this historic old home that has been a place of music and healing for more than a century. Plenty of parking in lots on either side of the home, as well as on the surrounding residential streets.

A. Beverages for after-party. If you would like, you may bring liquor to the after party, but leave it in the car until 10:00, because during business hours, the coffee shop isn?t licensed for liquor sales or imbibement. The owners, Todd and Rebecca, also live in this great old house and are generously opening their home to us for the after party, which is when liquor is permitted.

B. A bit o? tip money, if you can. Don?t bring anything for me, but please do bring a few extra dollars for two tip jars ? one helping to support the musicians and one helping to support the coffee house. Coffee house owners Rebecca and Todd have a beautiful vision of community and music that they are making true at this historic old home in Englewood. There is magic in this home ? but very few coffee houses truly dedicated to music communities survive for long ? UNLESS we support them. So, please bring that extra dollar or two along in support of community and in support of music. And please plan to buy at least a coffee, if not your dinner! THANK YOU.

C. Friends and family. There will be people here in pre-teens and teens through middle and old age. Bring anyone who likes music and good company.

D. Your musical instrument if you play one, and your voice if you sing. 

The featured performer, Tim Garst, is a good friend of mine, but I am truly NOT biased in telling you that he is a really, really good musician that you will definitely enjoy. Tim is a versatile singer/song-writer who plays a mix of rock?n?roll, blues, jazz and folk. Heck, he even plays a little blue grass now and then. And his lyrics are true poetry ? as well as true wit and humor. And he?s just a downright good person and generous heart. Kind of sexy, too, if you ask me.  Please come check him out. Get a preview at these links:

The other musicians I believe will be coming are all also quite excellent ? and I find all of them quite sexy, too. Maybe I just like musicians.  Here are the ones I know of so far. Others may be also be coming:

If you like Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, or Bonnie Rait, you?ll love Kate. www.myspace.com/katemleroux

Yes, Tommy is Kate?s brother. He is a wonderful percussionist, among other things. His band is The Nacho Men. www.thenachomen.com

Another wonderful soul ? who also happens to not only be a terrific singer, songwriter and guitarist, but also a violinist and mandolin player. And who knows what else he can play. A must-see and hear! While he won?t be soloing during the main performance, you can bet I will ask him to do so at the after party. And meanwhile, generous musical soul that he is, he can and will back up any style, any song. Quite amazing!

I just met these folks at Tim?s last gig, and I think he might be bringing them again. They did say they?d try to make it, and I sure hope so. You will definitely want to hear their beautiful, spiritual flute and keyboard music. Magical!

I can?t wait to see you on Friday.
Much love,
