Hello everyone save-the-date for the Philadelphia Science Festival Saturday, April 21, 2012,
This public relations video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Baosrp0xtA4 would work well for this event as a stand-alone running screen display for the Tesla Science Foundation's participation at the Philadelphia Science Festival on Saturday, April 21, 2012. www.philasciencefestival.org
We are going to need numerous volunteers to make this as successful as it was last year.
Please contact Jim Jenkins at [address removed] to add your name to the list of volunteers for this day.
Support needed varies from setup, demonstrations of Tesla coil devices, providing breaks or food logistics, tear-down at end of day.
We are going to have a tent amongst hundreds of other community and university science and technology expositions at this event.
The content of our tent exhibition will be very similar to last year with a few additions. The registration information that has been submitted is as follows:
Exhibit Title: Tesla Science Foundation: Power of Invention
Exhibit Description: The Tesla Science Foundation is presenting an exciting exhibit for all ages to gain a glimpse into the technology and science of Nikola Tesla the inventor. An interactive Tesla coil demonstration of Nikola Tesla’s famous invention of the wireless transmission of electricity. Fluorescent bulbs light up through wireless transmission of power. Browse a collection of artifacts such as a 1910 radio and headphones. Learn more about Nikola Tesla and the power of invention.
Step-by-Step Activity Description:
Attendees will hold a fluorescent bulb that is lit up by the wireless transmission of power.
Every 30 minutes a demonstration of the Tesla Coil could accommodate two hands-on
participants and 4 additional members in the audience watching the presentation. A separate presentation of a battery operated wireless transmitter and wireless receiver will send energy across the table to light up a bulb. Attendees can change the frequency of the transmitter to highlight the effectiveness of the energy transmission. Historical artifacts will be available for viewing and discussion as well as informational posters providing additional learning and discussion opportunities.
Materials: Flourescent light bulbs with customized hand grips
The activity will teach: Attendees will gain a greater awareness of the impact Nikola Tesla the inventor of AC electricity has had on the world of technology and the untapped potential of wireless transmission of electricity.
Volunteers are needed to be present at the Saturday, April 21, 2012 outdoor exhibit event under the 10 ft x 10 ft tent to assist in talking with the public about the science of Tesla, energy sustainability, Tesla coil demonstrations, setting up and taking down materials, etc.
If you have not yet contacted me with your interest in a time to volunteer at this exhibit and/or you think you know of another volunteer, etc. let me know of any revisions we should make.
Note: Please email me your cell phone contact so I have that for communications for the event.
