Hybrid Panel Conversation: Defining Software-defined Networking (SDN)

Friday, March 21, 2014 | Breakfast - 7:30am | Program - 8am to 9:30am

NWTA creates panel conversations with local thought leaders. We record it and give all students freedom to access the education anytime through an educational platform that never ends.

SDN is a new approach to designing, building and managing networks. The basic concept is that SDN separates the network's control (brains) and forwarding (muscle) planes to make it easier to optimize each. We are excited to bring you a deep dive into SDN. Industry experts will demonstrate use cases, contract unique viewpoints and answer some of the most common questions surrounding SDN.

Join us for an informative panel discussion followed by Q&A.

You'll Learn About:

The issues behind SDNCommon switch designs behind SDNHow the Open Network Foundation works with SDNUse cases of SDNCommon applications used with SDN

Panelists Include:

Nilesh Londhe, Founder, Cloud Genius, Management of Product Development, MicrosoftMark S. Detrick, Data Center Solutions Architect, Brocade Communication

Moderator: Enrique Cerna, Emmy Award Winning Producer for KCTS

This program has been brought to you with assistance from Brocade, SCI and Digital Fortress. If you work for any University or any school you can register with your .EDU email and we will waive the cost for this event for you. We appreciate your interest and look forward to partnering with your school to get this content in your students hands.

Event Agenda:

7:30am- Event Starts

7:30-8am- Breakfast/Open Conversation

8am-8:05am - NWTA Program Intro

Jason- Welcome to the Hybrid Panel Conversation on Defining Software-defined Networking (SDN)

Jason - Explain how the program works.

1 hr program. 45 min hybrid panel conversation. You can communicate with the moderator using twitter. Tweet you question with #SDN. It will be added to the list of questions on our app and the community votes on what questions they wanted asked.
The top question get’s displayed on our moderators Heads Up Display unit (HUD) and will be asked live. We record this program and have a creative commons license around it making it available to anyone who wants it free. Our goal is to keep this conversation going online and we will answer any additional questions that are not answered in the program online with our EDUonGo’s Learning Management System. Last 15 min for in person audience Q&A

8:05-8:10am - Moderator Intro

Jason -Introduce Moderator- Enrique Cerna

8:10am - Moderator Introduces panel

Panelists:
Nilesh Londhe
Founder, Cloud Genius

Mark S. Detrick, Data Center Solutions Architect, Brocade Communications
Brocade networking solutions help the world's leading organizations transition smoothly to a world where applications and information reside anywhere.

Two additional panelist will join us as well.

8:15am - Moderator starts the program. (45min)

The program allows Enrique to interact with an online audience using our application “Ask Panel Anything” that was written for Google Glass. It brings in a twitter feed into our database and allows people to tweet questions using the hashtag #SDN

This will allow people at the event and online to vote which question they want the moderator to ask and the question that has been voted on most will be displayed on his Google Glass (HUD). That’s pretty much it :)

We will work with Enrique to have a strategy to keep the questions coming and would like the a panelists to just have an open and comfortable conversation with each other for 45 min on as many questions as we can get to in that timeframe.

Here are our current list of questions: Keep in mind the order of the questions could change depending on what the community votes on using our application which can be done using any browser on any device. If you have a tablet or laptop, please bring it so we can allow you to be involved as well.
