December NY Enterprise Technology Meetup (ft keynote by Fred Wilson)

  • Dec 18, 2012 · 6:45 PM

Join fellow technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors for the NY Enterprise Technology Meetup's (NYETM) December meetup on Tuesday 12/18/12 from 6:45pm-9:00pm!

The format of the event this month will feature a keynote by Fred Wilson as well as 3 enterprise tech demos. There will be networking before/after.

  • Special Keynote by Fred Wilson, Managing Partner at Union Square Ventures

Fred recently wrote a post on his popular blog titled “Network Effects and the Enterprise” where he pointed out that “if you go back over the past four years and analyze the roughly thirty investments we have made in that time period, you will see that a good portion, maybe a third, have been in networks where enterprises participate.”  This is in line with his firm’s thesis to invest in “large networks of engaged users, differentiated through user experience, and defensible through network effects.”

In this keynote, Fred will expand on this blog post, explain trends he is seeing, and discuss where opportunities may exist for entrepreneurs.  Fred and USV have played such a critical role in the growth of NYC’s tech ecosystem that we’re very much looking forward to hearing his thoughts on what’s in store for enterprise tech.

Demos include:

  • tracx - tracx is a SaaS-based, unified social intelligence platform that enables enterprises to identify and manage actionable insights from big data in real time.  Through the tracx platform, enterprises can track, manage, analyze, and report on conversations happening about their brand, products and competitors across the social web.
  • JouleX - JouleX is a leading innovator in sustainable energy management for the enterprise. The JouleX Energy Manager family of products automatically monitors, analyzes and controls the energy consumed by all devices connected to the network –without agents, hardware meters or changes to your network or security. This provides enterprises unprecedented visibility and control over the consumption and utilization of energy throughout their distributed office environments, data centers and facilities management systems.
  • Business App of the Month: SoMoLend- SoMoLendis a web-based lending platform that uses patent-pending technology to connect small business borrowers with individual and organizational investors (lenders), executed within a hyper-localized geographic scope. SoMoLend’s user-friendly technology allows small business borrowers to obtain loans from friends, family, customers, community supporters, and interested organizations, as well as from Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn connections.

After party drinks sponsored by GoodData.

Hi everyone - thanks for all of your interest in this evenings event. We unfortunately have physical limitations on the space, so everyone on the waitlist won't be able to join us in person tonight. We will be recording Fred's keynote and the 3 demos though.

If you had signed up but now can't make it, please update your RSVP and I'll send over a refund. That way, other people from the waitlist can join. You need to do it through the meetup site otherwise we can't get your name to building security. Any questions, please email [masked].
