Smartphone astrophysics, the Higgs Boson, and open science w/ Prof. Kyle Cranmer

Details
Please join us for our FIRST NY Open Science Meetup, where we will be joined by physicist and open science enthusiast, Dr. Kyle Cranmer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Cranmer).
Kyle will talk about his experience with open science and using open science practices in his day-to-day research.
You might have seen Kyle in the news recently for his work on a smartphone app to detect cosmic rays (http://www.npr.org/2015/03/30/395800694/want-to-do-a-little-astrophysics-this-app-detects-cosmic-rays).
Kyle is a professor of physics (http://physics.as.nyu.edu/object/kylecranmer.html) at NYU. He developed statistical techniques used in the discovery of the Higgs Boson, and is an advocate for open access and data preservation.
There will be a Q&A session afterwards.
Come for the drinks, lecture, and food, and stay for the conversation and networking! RSVP today.
