How we use Scala on Hadoop @ eBay

Adam Ilardi, a data scientist at eBay, will talk about their implementations of Hadoop jobs using Scala. He'll walk us through their transition from Pig and raw Cascading to Scalding, and why they spend their time coding in Scala.

He'll also cover practical concerns of running software on petabytes of eBay data. Researchers can't always just toss their models over the fence so he'll talk about what it takes to get model driven data into production.
