[JOB] Hiring Full Stack Scala Developers!

From: Dustin W.
Sent on: Monday, April 29, 2013 9:20 PM
Hey guys,

Dustin Whitney here - one of the organizers of the meetup - I try not to post to often to our list, but we've got some opportunities at Pellucid Analytics for anyone interested. We work directly with the creators of the Play Framework.  Here's a description:

Pellucid Analytics is currently looking to hire several Senior Full Stack Developers. We want people who know JavaScript, CSS and the JVM well beyond the syntax and into many of their idioms, patterns and advanced libraries. On the JavaScript side, we make heavy use of promises and modules; on the CSS side, we make use of transitions and tools for precompilation; on the JVM side we use Scala and we’re looking for Scala developers or strong Java developers looking to learn Scala. Our environment is full of interesting and intelligent people, and we’re looking for similarly high caliber developers to join us. We've got a PhD from Oxford with deep roots in category theory, as well as contributors to the Play Framework and an iteratee-based MongoDB driver for Scala ( We strongly emphasize open source development and have already released a Scala library for Datomic ( We have several other open source projects in the works, including a promise-based JavaScript library for high performance UI in native iOS applications. Our software stack is meant to be 100% non-blocking and our libraries are focused on making that a reality.

You would be working on a product that will have a major impact on investment banking workflows, especially with respect to financial visualization and analytics, through automation as well as fluid and intuitive UX. Even though we're focused on the finance sector and many on our team come from banking, we maintain a startup feel, but are well funded so neither pay nor job security is an issue. We offer four weeks of vacation, brand new Macbook Pros, and 30 inch monitors. We also do hack days and make strong efforts to include interesting technologies into our daily work.
