Senior programmer over 20 year programming - 7 years in c# - but no java - can somebody recommend a good android book

NB: Learning Java and Android at the same time IS going to be tough. Apress have a "Java for Android" book which might be useful for people new to Java. I teach Android classes and usually recommend "Android Wireless Application Development, 3rd Edn" (two volume set) from Addison-Wesley. For UI stuff I highly recommend the Smashing Android UI book.

PS: My students usually know Java or have completed a Java course as its a pre-requisite.

We had an awesome time last night, hope everyone enjoyed the pizza and beers and thanks Kevin for organizing!

As we mentioned last night, we're doing really exciting things at Trendabl and facing new challenges everyday. If you're an experienced Android dev that wants to be part of a small VC-backed startup please email me at [masked] and let's chat. You will have full control and dev creativity of our Android app, fun right?

What if you'd like to place the main business logic of your app out of android, like in app engine, which technology would you use to connect them? Thinking also into the possibility of expand the app to other platforms like iOS or HTML5...
I tried Google Cloud EndPoints ( but the first try was a failure, any alternative? Should I give it a second chance?
